Vein Disease and Varicose Veins

Our vein service diagnoses and treats problems of the leg veins, such as varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency and venous leg ulcers. Care always starts with an accurate diagnosis, then the simplest option that suits each patient before anything more invasive. It is led by Dr. Walid Naser, Consultant Vascular Surgeon and Peripheral Endovascular Specialist in Amman, Member of the British College of Surgeons and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Note: If one leg suddenly becomes swollen and painful, or you have shortness of breath or chest pain, go to the emergency department immediately. These can be signs of a blood clot that needs urgent care.

Frequently asked questions

Are varicose veins just a cosmetic problem?

For some people they are mainly cosmetic. For others they can cause heaviness, aching, swelling or skin changes. An examination helps find the cause and how much they affect you.

Does every varicose vein treatment mean surgery?

No. Many cases can be managed with compression stockings or with treatments that do not need a surgical cut, such as laser, radiofrequency or injections. The right option is chosen after an examination.

When should I see a vascular surgeon about my veins?

If you have ongoing leg pain or swelling, skin changes near the ankle, a wound that will not heal, or bleeding from a vein. Early assessment helps choose the most suitable treatment.
